It's now been 18 months since we moved into The Cube. The space is used regularly by students and staff. Students come in before school to communicate with each other before they begin their day. Classes use the space on an almost daily basis to collaborate with the library media specialists on research projects or with each other on other projects. And with all this comes so much creativity! We know the space is used well, but has it transformed how teachers teach and students learn?
Yesterday we had 4 classes in The Cube at the same time. Two 5th grade classes were working on their Passion Projects. Two 6th grade science classes were also working; one class was creating PSAs while the other finished researching for an argumentative paper. Every student was engaged with his/her own project, and the teachers and tech coach were available to help guide and facilitate students as they had questions. So, has teaching/learning been transformed? I would say YES! What do you think?
